One of pop music's unforgettable figures, Michael Jackson's black‑red leather jacket worn in the 1983 “Thriller” music video shot at various locations around Los Angeles, California, is back before collectors. The item to be auctioned by U.S.-based Julien’s Auctions will be among the artist’s iconic garments that have left a mark on music and fashion history. The jacket will be one of the highlights of the auction to be held on 7 December 2026 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The jacket's value has surpassed ten million dollars.
Before the auction, it is estimated that the jacket could fetch more than ten million dollars. However, the auction house's English announcement did not disclose the jacket's estimated selling price to the public. The jacket had sold for 1.8 million dollars at the 2011 auction.
Other memorabilia will also go up for auction alongside the Thriller jacket.
Between 7 and 9 December, the event at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi hotel in Abu Dhabi will offer more than 100 items from Michael Jackson’s career to collectors. Among them are the jeweled gloves the artist wore at the 1983 Motown 25 program and the shoes that became synonymous with his moonwalk. The auction, which will feature the singer’s stage and video costumes as well as pieces of personal use, brings memories from key moments in music history back into the spotlight.
