The landing of a Boeing C‑17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft belonging to the U.S. Air Force at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow drew attention. According to flight‑tracking platform Flightradar24 data, this was the first U.S. Air Force C‑17 arrival in Russia since May 2020.
Arrived in Moscow via Riga
It was reported that the aircraft reached Latvia’s capital Riga on 23 August, then proceeded to Moscow. The C‑17 that departed from Riga later landed at Vnukovo Airport in Russia’s capital.
The flight the aircraft made to Moscow attracted attention because it occurred during a period of strained U.S.–Russia relations.

Journalists asked Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov about the U.S. military aircraft’s landing in Moscow.
Peskov said he had no information about the flight in question, and that no official statement has yet been made regarding the matter.
