In New Jersey, the Turkish community gathered for a colorful evening filled with folk songs and dances. While Soso Brothers took the stage at Blue Fig Garden's Wayne branch on Saturday evening, September 12, Anatolian melodies and dances continued throughout the night.

Wayne's Folk Song and Dance Night

Blue Fig Garden, located in Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, hosted a Folk Song & Dance Night on the evening of September 12. With many participants from New Jersey and surrounding areas, the event brought together familiar tunes and traditional instruments of the Turkish community on the same stage.

Driven by the sound of drums and trumpets, participants joined in dances accompanied by folk songs from various regions of Anatolia. The highly attended night quickly turned into a bustling gathering where music and entertainment took center stage.

Anatolian Melodies Reverberated in New Jersey

During the evening, Soso played the drum and zurna, Saver Yılmaz performed on the flute and trumpet, Dirancan Gündeş showcased his bağlama and powerful voice, and Ömür Ersoy took the stage on the piano.

In the performance where various instruments converged, the beloved folk songs of Anatolia were sung, and alongside energetic pieces, the dances also became a key part of the evening. Participants sometimes joined the folk songs, and at other times joined the night with the dances.

Attendance Was High

The strong interest shown in the Folk Song & Dance Night attracted attention. Guests who filled Blue Fig Garden's Wayne branch entertained themselves with music and also experienced a hometown atmosphere in New Jersey.

On the night, accompanied by delights from Turkish cuisine, music, food, and entertainment came together under one roof. The atmosphere created by the drum-zurna and bağlama especially reminded attendees of wedding and entertainment nights in Anatolia.

Hometown Atmosphere at Blue Fig Garden

Founded in 2020 in Cherry Hill and expanded with a Wayne branch, Blue Fig Garden hosts weddings, engagements, private celebrations and cultural events in its approximately 300‑person capacity venue.

On the night of September 12, the venue’s atmosphere was set by folk songs and dances. While Turkish residents of New Jersey gathered for a stage performance by Soso Kardeşler and accompanying musicians, the evening concluded with what felt like a small Anatolian gathering at Blue Fig Garden’s Wayne branch.
