New York Got Mixed Up: Nicki Minaj's Harsh Attack on Kathy Hochul
The rapper Nicki Minaj's harsh words toward New York Governor Kathy Hochul inflamed the election debate that also included Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman.

Before the New York gubernatorial elections scheduled for November 3 in the United States, the political contest was marked this time by statements from world‑renowned rapper Nicki Minaj. With the support of President Donald Trump, Minaj targeted Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul with harsh remarks on social media. Her outburst sparked a new debate in the final days of the race between Hochul and Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman.

Heavy Accusations from Minaj to Hochul
Nicki Minaj labeled Kathy Hochul as a "bad woman" in a social media post. The famous rapper, who argued that nominating Hochul would harm the Democratic Party politically, claimed that even if the governor won the elections, serious consequences could arise for her party.
In her post, Minaj also used expressions stating that Hochul could not escape God's wrath. The famous artist accused the governor of remaining silent in the face of developments she saw as wrong and criticized those around her.

Hochul's Reply: Send Trump
Unfazed by Minaj's remarks, Kathy Hochul answered journalists' questions at a campaign event she attended in Albany on Wednesday. Criticizing the rapper's participation in Donald Trump's rallies, Hochul argued that Minaj was under Trump's influence.
Hochul reacted to the rapper's political stance by saying, 'You can ask him how he was poisoned by Donald Trump.' The governor also stated that once the Trump administration's political influence is gone, people could develop a different view of the country.
Blakeman Joined the Debate
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman welcomed Minaj's remarks toward Hochul. Emphasizing that the famous rapper has a large following, Blakeman said, 'Nicki Minaj is a great talent. She has a very large audience.'
Blakeman accused Hochul of increasing division in society. The Republican candidate, who claimed the governor does not communicate enough with people and stays away from the press, considered Minaj's remarks to find a place on the election agenda.
Cardi B Also Drawn into the Election Debate
The debate was not limited to Hochul, Minaj, and Blakeman. Brooklyn City Council Member Chi Osse, addressing Cardi B on social media, asked the famous rapper to support Hochul.
Osse, stating that they do not want Republicans to win the New York governorship, called for Cardi B to give open support to the Democratic candidate.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also joined the debate by bringing the rivalry between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj into the political arena. The fact that Cardi B is supporting a promotional song contest for the city's 2-K program with Mamdani also came up. Mamdani said he finds it hard to believe the reality of the developments, and praised Cardi B's interest not only in music but also in history and politics.
Nicki Minaj's Shift in Political Stance Draws Attention
Nicki Minaj's latest statement toward Hochul also drew attention because of her past political support. The rapper had backed Hochul's lieutenant governor campaign in 2018. Recently, she has come to the forefront with her open support for Donald Trump and Republican candidates. Minaj also urged young voters to vote for Republican candidates.
Campaigns Accelerate as Election Days Near
In the New York governorship race, Kathy Hochul and Bruce Blakeman are continuing their campaigns ahead of the November 3 election. While Hochul continued her work in Albany on Wednesday, Blakeman embarked on a statewide tour aimed at reaching Republican voters.
According to the Marist poll relayed by CBS News New York, Hochul received 53% support among registered voters while Blakeman garnered 42%. The survey conducted from 22‑25 October showed the Democratic candidate was ahead by an 11‑point margin. In the Siena Research Institute’s 19‑22 October survey, Hochul was measured at 54% and Blakeman at 40%.
In the final days of the campaign, statements from famous figures continue to occupy the agenda of New York politics.
