While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was on the United Nations podium, a protest march was organized in the heart of New York.
The crowd that began in Bryant Park, with slogans, banners, drums, and heavy participation, moved through Manhattan streets in an attempt to reach the UN Headquarters.
The barricades erected by the NYPD as part of extensive security measures taken days earlier blocked the march; protesters who altered their route reached 47th Street from 3rd Avenue, then 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue, but could not get in front of the UN building.
In the demonstration where calls rose for an end to the war in Gaza, a halt to the U.S. arms support for Israel, and the implementation of the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against Netanyahu, many Hasidic Jews were also seen supporting the protesters.
Throughout the day in New York, the Netanyahu protest stood out both in the UN hall and on the streets.
