Suspect Wanted for Rape in New York Caught at Canada Border
The 29-year-old Senegalese citizen sought in New York on charges of attempted rape was taken into custody after illegally crossing the border in Vermont.

The 29‑year‑old Khadim Ndaiye, who was found to have illegally crossed the Canada border in the U.S. state of Vermont, was taken into custody. It was announced that Ndaiye, a Senegalese citizen who had previously lived in Brooklyn, faced a warrant for arrest on charges of attempted rape under the serious crime category in New York.
Border Patrol searched for hours
U.S. Border Patrol teams determined that the border between Canada and the United States had been illegally crossed near North Troy on September 30. Finding footprints and traces of people moving through a forested area, the teams followed the trail.
Agents later spotted a man walking along a streambank. When the teams approached, the suspect fled and lost his trail in the initial search. After hours of searching, a man who resembled the same individual was located again and was apprehended shortly thereafter.
When captured, Ndaiye's clothing was described as covered in brush and mud. Officials said the condition indicated that the suspect may have spent an extended period in the forested area.
Fingerprint checks confirmed that Ndaiye is a Senegalese citizen and that he was previously apprehended by Border Patrol in 2023 while illegally entering the country in Arizona.
Released in 2023
According to officials, Ndaiye received a notice indicating that, following his 2023 arrest, he was required to appear in court for immigration proceedings and was released under the border policies of that period.
Immigration records show that, shortly after Ndaiye’s prior detention in New York, he left the United States on September 15, 2025.

An arrest warrant was issued in New York for him.
During a fingerprint review, it also emerged that the New York County Criminal Court had issued an open arrest warrant for Ndaiye, linked to charges of attempted sexual assault related to a serious offense stemming from his September 1, 2025 detention.
Federal charges were brought for unlawful entry.
A criminal complaint has been filed in the Vermont Federal Court against Ndaiye for illegal entry into the United States. His first hearing is planned to be held before U.S. District Judge Kevin J. Doyle in Burlington.
If convicted of illegal entry, Ndaiye could face up to six months in prison.
