Trump’s threat to New York: Little Italy
U.S. President Trump threatened to cut billions of dollars in federal funds if the New York administration did not add Little Italy to the city map showing immigrant communities.

U.S. President Donald Trump brought up the map showing New York's immigrant neighborhoods at the Columbus Day event held at the White House on October 9.
In the 2023‑made map titled 'New York City Immigrant Enclaves,' communities such as Chinatown, Little India, Little Manila, and Little Palestine were listed, while the absence of Little Italy drew attention.
Irish and Jewish neighborhoods were also missing from the map.
It was noted that, in that map, Italian communities as well as Irish and Jewish neighborhoods were absent.
Trump criticized the omission, saying that communities of Yemeni, Haitian, Guyanese, and Senegalese origin were shown on the map, and stated that the issue would be addressed immediately.
Federal funds could be cut.
Trump said that if the map is not updated, New York could be deprived of billions of dollars in federal funds.
However, the statement did not provide details on which funds the possible cuts would cover or how they would be implemented.
