Goodness Run Extending from Turkey to New York

Şaban Doğan, President of the Turkish Red Crescent in İslahiye and Nurdağı, will run in the New York Marathon – one of the world’s most prestigious races – not only to reach the finish line but also to support the education of girls affected by the earthquake. Doğan aims to raise donations for the Turkish Red Crescent along the 42‑kilometre course.

42‑Kilometre Goodness Run in New York

57‑year‑old businessman Şaban Doğan will take his place in the marathon to be held on November 1 in New York City, USA. Having previously participated in numerous marathons in Turkey and abroad and won various medals, Doğan will run the New York race this time for a social‑responsibility purpose.

Doğan’s goal is to provide scholarship support to girls in families affected by the February 6, 2023 earthquakes in İslahiye and Nurdağı. Donations will be collected on behalf of the Turkish Red Crescent as part of the race.

Continuing Work in the Earthquake Zone

Doğan, who continues humanitarian aid, social support, and coordination work in İslahiye and Nurdağı under the Turkish Red Crescent with board members, is also proceeding with marathon preparations without pause.

Doğan, who said he sees the New York Marathon as a special race for himself, explained his purpose for tackling the course with these words:

The New York Marathon is ahead of us. To give this marathon more meaning and to crown it, I will run a marathon on behalf of the Red Crescent. I will run and crown it to provide scholarships to the earthquake‑affected girls in İslahiye and Nurdağı for the Red Crescent. I will try to finish it in good health. I look forward to everyone's support and help.

For Şaban Doğan, who is preparing to complete a 42‑kilometre grueling course, the finish line in New York will this time carry meaning beyond a sporting achievement.
