He found the sibling he had been searching for years on the rival team.
Samantha Rensvold, 19, living in Montana, met her long‑lost sister Kyann Dean at a softball tournament she attended in August 2025. The two siblings, adopted by different families as babies, found each other thanks to their resemblance.

One of Samantha Rensvold's teammates, a 19‑year‑old living in Montana, noticed that the 18‑year‑old Kyann Dean, who plays for the opposing team, looked very similar to her.
The teammate who knew that Dean had been adopted asked Rensvold whether she had been adopted as well.
While reviewing the tournament roster with her mother, Rensvold noticed that her brother's name was Kyann. The family, believing this was no coincidence, reached out to Dean.
The siblings, who greeted each other with a handshake in their first meetings, began to bond after meeting their families. They spent time together and chatted throughout the tournament.

Sibling bonds strengthened.
The two siblings, adopted by different families, were born in Great Falls, Montana, but grew up about 640 kilometres apart.
Both of them are siblings who earned a softball scholarship, and they discovered shared traits such as laughing in the same tone, in addition to their physical resemblance. Rensvold and Dean, who did not take a DNA test, now keep in touch by texting every day.

Rensvold, saying that reconnecting with his sister made him feel complete, stated that having a name and a face for his biological family is now very valuable to him.
