In the tragic incident that occurred in Almas, a city in Brazil's Tocantins state, 22‑year‑old Ana Beatriz Araújo Ferreira became the target of a lightning strike.

According to information reported in local press and cited by authorities, Ferreira was severely injured when struck by lightning during light rain. The young woman was taken to hospital after the incident, but despite all medical intervention, she could not be saved.
It was announced that Ferreira died on 3 October.
She had recently been chosen as “Rodeo Queen.”
Ana Beatriz had recently earned the title of “Rodeo Queen” during the agricultural fair ExpoAlmas held in the region. The sudden death of the young woman caused great sorrow among her family, friends, and the city she lived in.
In a statement issued by the ExpoAlmas organizers, it was noted that Ferreira's death has left a great void in everyone who knew him, and condolences were expressed to his family and close ones.

Lightning Struck While He Was Attending to His Nephew
One of the most painful details of the incident emerged from the statement of Ferreira's brother, César Augusto.
Augusto said that he was attending to his nephew while his sister was struck by lightning. Describing Ana Beatriz as one of the most beautiful people he has known, Augusto explained that his sister loved to show affection through small, everyday gestures.

He Had a Five-Year-Old Son.
It was noted that Ana Beatriz Araújo Ferreira is also a physiotherapy student. It was also reported that the young woman studying at Unopar University has a five-year-old son.
César Augusto, in an emotional post from his social media account, said goodbye to his brother, stating that he will continue to live in his son, in his family's story, and in the love he left behind.
The investigation launched by local police regarding Ferreira's death is still ongoing.
