American citizen woman attempted suicide in Samsun

In the Ilkadim district of Samsun, a 22‑year‑old American citizen woman attempted suicide by going onto the roof of a three‑storey building. The woman was brought down from the roof by the intervention of local shopkeepers and police.

The incident occurred in the 19 Mayıs neighborhood of the İlkadım district.

According to reports, U.S. citizen Serilla Collins (22) went onto the roof of the building in an attempt to commit suicide after experiencing a personal crisis.

Police, medical and fire crews were dispatched to the area following the report. Noticing the situation, Mustafa Karaoğlan (53), a second‑hand goods shop owner in the area, went onto the roof and intervened with Collins.

Soon after, police teams that arrived at the scene also went onto the roof and lowered the woman.

She had been living in Samsun for four years.

Collins was taken to the Gazi Police Center Command for processing and to give a statement.

Collins, who is said to have arrived in Turkey about 4 years ago, is married to Celal E. (21), whom he met online, and it was reported that he lives with his wife at the address where the incident occurred.
