In Illinois, during an operation on a house as part of a drug smuggling investigation, about 339.5 pounds (154 kilograms) of cocaine and $700,000 in cash were seized. It was noted that one of the two arrested suspects is a Turkish citizen.

As part of the operation, 33‑year‑old Burhan Özerdinç from Oak Lawn and 33‑year‑old Ahmad S. Sanducka from Mount Prospect were taken into custody.
The two suspects were charged with possession of more than 900 grams of drugs and possession with intent to distribute.

The court decided to hold the suspects in custody for trial.
Cook County Circuit Court Judge Kristyna C. Ryan, accepting the prosecutor's requests for detention, ruled that both defendants should remain in custody before trial.

It was reported that the investigation was carried out under the leadership of the DEA Chicago Field Unit, with the support of various police units in Chicago and surrounding cities and sheriff offices.
