In the city of New York, USA, a 58‑year‑old man died on Saturday evening when an MTA B44 bus collided with him in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn. The incident occurred on Nostrand Avenue, near the bus stop in front of building No. 1754.
Police Investigating the Accident
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), units were dispatched to the area on Saturday just before 20:30 after a report of a motionless person on the road. Initial findings indicate that the 58‑year‑old man was thrown toward the side of the bus and fell onto the road. The bus then passed over his body on its rear wheels.

Bus Continued on Its Path
Police sources said the B44 bus continued northward along Nostrand Avenue after the incident. It was reported that the driver was unaware of the collision and therefore kept moving without stopping. Consequently, the incident is being investigated by the police as a hit‑and‑run case.
Investigating Whether the Driver Noticed
It was reported that the 43‑year‑old woman was driving the bus during the incident. NYPD said it did not notice that the driver had struck a pedestrian. However, while the investigation continues, it was stated that the full circumstances of the crash have not yet been clarified.
Died in Hospital
The 58‑year‑old man, taken to hospital by medical teams after the crash, was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. However, despite the interventions, he could not be saved.

Police said it would disclose the identity of the deceased after informing the family. As of Sunday, no arrests or detentions related to the incident had been made.
After the crash, a section of Nostrand Avenue was closed to traffic for a time, while NYPD's Collision Investigation Unit conducted work to determine how the incident occurred. An explanation was requested from the MTA and is expected.
