Found Shot in Vehicle

In the incident that occurred in Veracruz, the lifeless body of federal deputy Zenyazen Escobar was found inside his vehicle parked by the roadside. Initial examinations determined that Escobar lost his life by a firearm.

After discovering a gun inside the vehicle, the teams carried out a detailed inspection at the scene.

Cause of Death Still Unclear

Veracruz State Government Secretary-General Ricardo Ahued confirmed Escobar's death, stating that it was still too early to make a definitive assessment of how the incident unfolded.

Ahued said that, based on the current findings, none of the murder or suicide options can be conclusively ruled out.

External Attack Possibility Being Investigated

Authorities reported that in their initial assessment no clear evidence indicating that the vehicle had been attacked from outside was found. However, it was reported that the investigation is not yet finished and all possibilities are being considered.

While the crime‑scene teams continue to collect evidence related to the MP's death, the prosecution is also conducting a comprehensive investigation.

After teaching and union leadership, Zenyazen Escobar entered politics and had started serving in the Mexican Chamber of Deputies in September 2024.
