A courier in New York Staten Island was attacked in the NYCHA housing complex. The 37‑year‑old woman was subjected to sexual assault after being struck with a weapon.
A shocking incident occurred in New York. On Wednesday evening around 18:00, a female courier was subjected to a horrific attack at the Berry Apartments near the intersection of Dongan Hills Boulevard and Jefferson Street on Staten Island.
According to a statement from the New York Police Department (NYPD), the unfortunate woman experienced shock during the attack while entering the building to deliver a package. It was reported that the attacker fired a black and silver gun at the woman's face and then sexually assaulted her.
Another resident of the building said that the victim had gone up to the upper floor after delivering a package and had not come down afterwards.
One of the building residents who spoke to PIX11 News described the sounds he heard during the incident, saying, “I heard a noise. I thought it was falling down the stairs, but it was probably dragging it.”
The injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The NYPD announced that the suspect fled the scene after the attack and that no arrests have been made so far. The investigation is ongoing.
