Trump lived in the house built in 1940 by his father and real‑estate developer Fred Trump until he was four. The family moved out in later years, and the property had not belonged to the Trump family for a long time.
The Home Fell into Disrepair for Years: Renovation Cost $500,000
The five‑bedroom, three‑bath house sat empty and neglected in recent years. Developer Tommy Lin, who bought the property for $835,000 last year, launched an extensive renovation to make it usable again.
Lin spent an additional $500,000 on the roughly eight‑month renovation. The overhaul added modern amenities such as a chef’s kitchen, fish‑scale hardwood floors, and spa‑style bathrooms.
The sale price of the house rose well above the $835,000 Lin paid last year. With the property sold for $1.93 million, the sale price increased by about $1.1 million. The identity of the new buyer was not disclosed. It was noted that the buyer signed a contract for the property in July.
Its Connection to Trump’s Past Boosted Its Value
The house in Queens draws attention not only for its real‑estate value but also because it hosted Trump’s childhood years. The Tudor‑style building erected by Fred Trump in 1940 stands out as one of the properties directly linked to the U.S. president’s New York past.
