Turkish social media user Buğra Han Yerli, in a video he posted, critiqued how a Turkish proverb was rapidly thrust onto the international agenda via social media. Yerli said the incident demonstrated the quick‑wittedness of Turkish culture and the impact of proverbs in the digital world.

Response to Political Post Becomes a Topic

According to the claim, the incident began with a post on social media platform X after Israel targeted a Syrian base in Idlib.

After a pro‑Israel account used the phrase 'We will bomb Turkey again' toward Turkey, a Turkish user reacted by saying the post was about an attack on Syria.

The user subsequently drew attention on social media by sharing the English equivalent of a Turkish proverb that has long been used in Turkish culture, told through a rabbit, and ridicules a person who overstates their power.

Yerli said that Turks possess a wealth of striking proverbs and idioms corresponding to various everyday situations, and that this oral culture also creates a striking impact on social media.
