The Turkish businessman's new jet crashed in Libya.
The Cessna Citation Latitude private jet, registered TC-AKF and reported to belong to Turkish businessman Hamdi Akın, crashed and caught fire during landing in Misrata, Libya. The crew on board survived the accident, with no casualties.
The jet flying from Istanbul Atatürk Airport to Misrata crashed during its landing at Misrata International Airport.
The fire was brought under control by the airport fire and rescue teams.
According to information relayed by Haber Aero, the aircraft registered TC-AKF left the factory in March 2026 and was delivered in May 2026.
It was stated that the jet was registered under a mining company in which Hamdi Akın is a partner.
It had attracted attention with its yellow‑navy colors.
The Cessna Citation Latitude, with an approximate range of 5,000 kilometres, can carry 6 to 9 passengers and is equipped with twin Pratt & Whitney engines.
The aircraft had also attracted attention with its yellow‑green colors before it was delivered. After the accident, flight traffic at Misrata International Airport was temporarily halted.
