Social media user Baturhan Gülmez argued that the claim that a bachelor's diploma earned in Turkey is invalid in the United States is incorrect. Gülmez said the diploma and transcript can be used for education and job applications in the U.S. after being evaluated for equivalence.
On social media “benbaturBaturhan Gülmez, who shared using a username, released a video explaining the questions that arise regarding the use of diplomas in the U.S. by those who have pursued higher education in Turkey.
Gülmez said that the perception that diplomas earned in Turkey carry no recognition in the U.S. is fueling information pollution, and asserted that university diplomas from Turkey can be assessed in the U.S.
Diplomacy must be sent to equalizing institutions.
Gülmez said that those planning education or a career in the U.S. could apply to organizations such as WES and ECE to evaluate their diplomas.
It was reported that after students submitted their diploma and transcript documents to the relevant authorities via video, the equivalence of their educational background in the U.S. could be evaluated.
Gülmez said that the document obtained as a result of this evaluation could help, especially in applications for graduate studies and certain job applications, to present the educational background.
The Same Rules Do Not Apply to Every Profession
It was also emphasized in the video that the diploma certificate and the professional practice permit are different processes.
Gülmez said that in professions requiring licensing, such as medicine, law, and engineering, the diploma certificate alone may not be sufficient, and that meeting the exam and licensing requirements set by the relevant state is necessary.
He stated that in fields such as management, marketing, and software, different evaluation processes could be applied depending on the nature of the profession and the employer's conditions.
Because the rules for foreign diploma evaluation in the United States can vary by state, university, profession, and purpose of the application, students and graduates need to check the current requirements of the institution they will apply to.
