Countries recommend emergency kits: Here is the list of necessities
It was reported that the United States and 17 European countries, among a total of 33 countries, advised their citizens to stock up on a few days' worth of food and water, keep cash, batteries, and flashlights. Calls for preparation against possible crises have brought global concerns back to the forefront.

It was reported that a cyber attack targeting the deep freezer systems of about 40 supermarkets in France rendered thousands of food products unusable. Following the incident, the possible impacts of cyber attacks on food supply chains were once again set for debate.
Newsweek's decision to feature the topic on its cover also drew the attention of the international public. Assessments that potential cyber attacks, power outages, and supply problems could disrupt daily life came to the fore.
Countries' emergency advice varies.
According to the preparation recommendations reported by The Guardian, countries are publishing different stock lists so that citizens can meet their basic needs in possible emergencies.
United Kingdom: Three‑day food and water stock. Germany: 10‑day canned food. France: Emergency kit. United States: Approximately 3.8 liters of water per person. Norway: Sleeping bag and candle. Denmark: Three‑day sample meal plan. India: Water‑purification tablets, first‑aid book, and battery‑powered flashlight. Netherlands: Food, water, medicine, and cash.
The preparation lists also include items such as power banks, battery‑powered radios, first‑aid supplies, hygiene products, and pet food.
72‑hour preparedness recommendation from the European Commission
The European Commission had advised that citizens keep supplies on hand that would allow them to meet basic needs for at least 72 hours, as part of the Preparedness Union Strategy announced in March 2025.
The strategy covers a range of emergency scenarios, including natural disasters, industrial accidents, cyber attacks and geopolitical crises.
Calls for preparedness by countries do not mean that a specific global crisis is certain to occur. The recommendations aim to strengthen individual and societal resilience against various risks.
