Two separate kidnapping accusations against a Lyft driver in Virginia

In Virginia, Lyft driver Adar Bulut was arrested on charges of two separate kidnappings and one negligent driving offense, on the allegation that he did not allow two female passengers to exit the vehicle for a period of time.

The incident occurred on the morning of September 6 in the Woodbridge area of Virginia.

According to police statements, two women aged 32 and 25 called a Lyft to return home after an event in Maryland.

Police said the driver offered them direct, lower fares instead of paying through Lyft during the trip. When they reached Virginia, a dispute over the fare arose.

According to the claim, when the women tried to get out of the vehicle, Bulut refused and continued driving for a short time. Later the women were allowed to exit the car. It was reported that the women were not injured in the incident.

He surrendered to the police on September 10.

The Bulut whom the police could not reach in the first phase surrendered to the Prince William County police on September 10 and was arrested. He faced two charges of kidnapping/abduction and one charge of reckless driving.

In a statement to The Washington Times, a Lyft spokesperson said that such behavior is unacceptable and announced that Bulut's account has been permanently removed from the platform.
