Truck Collides with Bicycle in New York: 15-Year-Old Girl Killed

In the city of New York, USA, a fatal traffic accident occurred when a truck collided with two young girls on the same bicycle. The accident took place at around 21:00 on Friday, September 18, at the intersection of East 14th Street and First Avenue in Manhattan's East Village.
According to a statement from the New York Police Department (NYPD), the driver of a commercial truck moving westbound collided with two young girls riding a bicycle in the same direction as he turned right onto First Avenue. After the crash, the bicycle was seen trapped beneath the truck's wheels.
15‑year‑old Daria Serkov Lost Her Life
The two injured young people were taken to Bellevue Hospital by medical teams. Police announced that 15‑year‑old Daria Serkov had died in the hospital. The other injured 16‑year‑old girl was reported to be in a stable condition.
According to police sources, the 16‑year‑old girl was riding the bicycle. The 15‑year‑old Serkov was a passenger in the rear of the bicycle. Initial statements said the other girl was 13, but the NYPD later updated her age to 16.
Truck Driver Did Not Leave the Scene
It was reported that the driver of the truck involved in the accident stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. While the NYPD's investigation into the incident continues, no arrests or detentions have been announced at this stage.
The truck's owner, Badger Company, stated in a post-accident statement that it fully supports the NYPD's investigation. The company also offered condolences to the family and close ones of the young woman who lost her life, while thanking the emergency response teams that were on the scene.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Unit is continuing its work to determine how the accident in East Village occurred. Officials said the incident has been examined in all its aspects.
